Wedding at the Bernardo Heights Country Club-

This wedding was for a couple in their mid 20’s who picked the most popular date to get married this year. The guests came from parts of San Diego and Los Angeles. During the cocktail hour I played all Spanish music per the request from the couple. The reception included all the formalities such as the parents dance, bouquet and garter, cake cutting, and an Anniversary Dance. During the Anniversary Dance I had all the married couples come up to join the bride and groom in a slow dance. Prior to the reception I asked the bride and groom who had been married the longest and for how long. So while the couples were dancing to the slow song I invited the longest married couple to the dance floor. I announced who they were and played a song from their era to recognize them. After that I played the dance music which ranged from Spanish, hip hop, r&b, Top 40 songs. I was asked to play overtime for 2 hours since everyone was having a good time.

Middle School Dance (Encanto)

This was the back to school dance. The kids had a good time dancing to all the Top 40 songs. My light show set the mood for everyone to have a great time. They also like the group dances such as the Cha Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, and the Hispanic group dance called El Caballo Dorado.  I have done these school dances for about 2 years now and have the next one Oct. 28, 2011 with a Halloween theme. I will post another blog after that dance.

Sweet 16 Party (El Cajon)

This event was for Megan’s 16th birthday celebration at her father’s home in El Cajon. I was set up in the spacious back yard and brought my lights to make it a fun evening. There were about 30 guests and the party had a New York theme with the mother and father providing hot dogs and pizza. They had a Nathan’s Hot Dog sign and various pictures on NYC on the food table. I played mainly Top 40 music with a few country songs by request. Some of the kids told the hosts that it was the best party of the year. When I hear those comments I know I did a great job and made the people happy.

Wedding at The Prado (Balboa Park)

This wedding was a very intimate with about 60 people. The bride and groom did not do the traditional reception formalities except the first dance and the parents dance. I was told by the bride’s brother that she had a dance routine for a song and to play it for her. The song was Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice and when I played it she did her routine which got the crowd going. Following that song I was told to play Thriller by Michael Jackson and she did that routine as well. Everyone had a great time.

Middle School Dance (Encanto)

This was the back to school Halloween dance. Most of the kids were in costume. I played the same group dances Cha Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, and the El Caballo Dorado. There were some new faces in the crowd since the 6th graders graduated and new 5th graders arrived. Some of the kids came uo to me after the dance and told me they had a great time, others told me it was the best dance they have been to this year. I appreciate when people take time to tell me I made their event memorable.

Halloween Party (Rancho Sante Fe)

This was a Hallloween party at a private residence in the beautiful Rancho Santa area. The hostess was very accomodating and easy to work with. I was dressed up in an orange colored jail jumpsuit and about 90% of the guest had costumes as well. I played a mix of music from Michael Jackson’s Thriller to the current hits. I am looking forward to the next event.

Backyard Wedding (Clairemont)

The most popular wedding date this year. The couple had their ceremony at 11:11am which fit the date well. This was a small reception of family and friends in the spacious backyard of the groom’s brother. I started off the cocktail hour with older 80′s slow rock music, then changed the format to 70′s, and mixed in the new songs towards the second half of the event. The newlyweds first dance was Nothing Else Matters by Metallica and the father daughter and groom mother dances were very emotional. The food was great, weather was perfect, and overall a great success.

Quincenera (El Cajon)

For those of you who do not know what a Quincenera is it is a 15th birthday party for a girl in the Mexican culture. This was one of the best events I have done in years. The night started off with slow Spanish music mixed with jazz and Frank Sinatra. There were about 200 people and most of them were teenagers. Everyone was dressed like they were at a wedding. The birthday girl performed her traditional dance with her court (10 boys)  and then I played the dance music. I added a small laser light to my light show which was a crowd pleaser. Most of the crowd was dancing to the Spanish music and I added 70′s, 80′s, 90′s, and the current songs that gave everyone a mix of music which was requested by the client. Electric Slide, Cha Cha Slide, and El Caballo Dorado were the group dance songs I played. Overall this was a great event and I can’t wait for the next Quincenera.

Holiday Party The Farms (Rancho Santa Fe)

This was the 3rd year in a row performing for this company. The dinner was great and they had a great magician to entertain the guests this year during the cocktail and dinner hour. I played a mix of music throughout the evening and everyone had a great time. I brought my new laser lights that set the mood for dancing. One of the employees sang a song and did a great job. I am looking forward to next year’s event.

Holiday Party Air and Space Museum (San Diego)

What a great venue to hold an event. There were about 200 guests in attendance. I provided a small set up in the lobby for the cocktail hour playing classical piano and light jazz music. Then the party moved in the large dome shaped pavillion. The night started with a buffet dinner followed by a raffle and then the dancing began. I took the crowd a few minutes to get going but then they never left the dance floor.

Bridal Show @ Pala Casino

I was a vendor at the Pala Casino bridal show on January 8, 2012. This was a smaller show but the day was busy and I met a lot of great brides. As an incentive for the show I offered 4 LED uplights or my High Energy Dance Lighting as a complimentary upgrade for signing up on my contact sheet. The traffic of brides was steady through the morning until 2pm when people started to leave. I will probably attend the next show @ Pala on July 15, 2012, so if you missed me at the last show you can visit me at the next one.

Wedding @ The County Club at Soboba Springs (San Jacinto, CA)

This was the first wedding of the year. There were about 250 people ages ranged from young kids to grandparents. The reception started at 3pm with a beautiful sunset overlooking the golf course. Both the bride and groom looked great and well as the bridal party. I mixed the genres of music and the guests had a great time.  I brought my lights which added to the overall experience to the evening. The recpetion ran smooth and there was an emotional moment when the bride’s grandmother danced with the bride’s brother. The bride’s grandfather passed away in 2009 and she dedicated the song “You Light Up My Life” by Debbie Boone as a dedication to him and to her. There was also a slide show that showed the couple from years ago which brought tears to the guests. Overall this was a great reception and I wish the couple many years together and a happy life.

10th Birthday Party (Military Housing San Diego)

It was a small birthday party but one of the most fun I had in a while. I usually do not perform at kids parties, but since this was for my daughter’s friends I made an exception. Cotton candy, pizza and cake was provided to the girls and the parents. All the girls had a great time and I brought a lighting effect that got them in the party mood. Some of the girls sang in the microphone to the popular songs.

Middle School Dance (Encanto)

This dance had a lot of new faces in the crowd. There was not them this time but the kids still had a good time. I have been the dj for the school for the past few years and I have fun each time I perform. The kids are not too pushy when they request songs. I will be ready for the next dance April 27th.

Cheerleading Award Event @ Downtown Cafe (El Cajon)

This was a banquet award event for cheerleaders ages 5-12. I have performed at this event in the past years and the girls have a great time. The venue has a great buffet and and nice staff. I played all the top songs and a lot of Justin Bieber. The girls danced the entire time I was there. I am looking forward to the next event.

80th B-Day Party Mission Trails Golf Course (San Carlos)

This was a small party for a great 80 year old woman. She was full of energy and dancing most of the night. Most of the guests were Italian so I played the traditional Italian songs mixed in with the dance music. The music I played had a wide range. I started the night with 50′s and 60′s music for the older crowd, then transitioned to the 70′s and skipped right to today’s songs. The ages ranged from the early 20′s to 80′s. The family and friends were great and everyone had a good time.
